Cookie policy

This page explains what Hopi stores on your device: the advertising cookies that fund the free tools, the small amount of local storage some tools use, and how you stay in control of all of it. Last updated: August 2026.

Advertising cookies

Hopi is free because it is funded by advertising through Google AdSense. To show and measure ads, Google and its advertising partners may set cookies or read similar identifiers on your device. Before any advertising cookies are set, visitors in the UK, the European Economic Area and Switzerland are shown a consent message from a Google-certified consent platform. You can accept, or decline personalised advertising, and either way every tool on the site keeps working.

You can review or change your choice at any time, and manage personalised advertising across Google in Google's Ad Centre. How Google uses advertising data is described at policies.google.com.

Analytics: no cookies

We measure visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless. It counts page views and referrers without storing anything on your device and without profiling you across sites.

Local storage (not cookies, and only when you use a tool)

A few tools remember things on your own device using your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your machine, is never sent to us, and exists purely so the tool works the way you asked. UK privacy rules treat storage that is strictly necessary for a service you requested as exempt from the consent message, which is why those tools do not prompt you.

• Online notepad: saves your notes as you type, so they survive a refresh.
• Currency converter: keeps the day's exchange rates for 24 hours, so repeat visits are instant and work offline.

Clearing your browser's site data for hopi.co.uk removes all of it.

Installed tools

If you add a tool to your desktop or home screen, your browser stores that tool's page and icon on your device. That is a standard browser feature; uninstalling the shortcut removes it.

Your tool inputs are never involved

Advertising and analytics are entirely separate from the tools themselves. The numbers, text, files and photos you enter or open are processed only in your browser and are never sent to us, to Google, or to anyone else.

Third-party links

If you choose to support Hopi through our Ko-fi link, Ko-fi's own site and its cookie policy apply there. The currency converter fetches daily exchange rates from frankfurter.dev, which does not set cookies.
