Privacy policy

This policy explains what data hopi.co.uk handles, which is deliberately as little as possible. Last updated: August 2026.

Your inputs stay on your device

Every tool on this site runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. The numbers, text, dates, colours, spreadsheets, photos and PDFs you enter or open are processed on your device and are never transmitted to our servers, stored by us, or seen by us. Passwords and passphrases created by our generators are generated locally and never leave your machine.

The one exception, clearly labelled

The currency converter fetches the day's exchange rates from frankfurter.dev, an open-source, non-commercial rates service, because exchange rates cannot be built into a static page. That request contains no personal data beyond the connection itself and sets no cookies, and it is the only tool on Hopi that talks to any server. Every page that does this says so on the page.

What we store on your device

Hopi sets no cookies. A few tools use your browser's local storage for functionality you asked for (the notepad saving your notes, the currency converter caching the day's rates). Details are on our cookies page. Nothing stored is readable by us.

What we collect

We do not require accounts and do not collect names, email addresses or any personal details, except when you choose to email us. Traffic is measured with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not profile visitors or track you across sites. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) keeps standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) to run and protect the service.

Advertising and consent

Hopi is funded by advertising served by Google AdSense, which is how the tools stay free. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show and measure ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Before any advertising cookies are set, visitors in the UK, the European Economic Area and Switzerland are shown a consent message from Google's certified consent management platform, and you can decline personalised advertising and still use every tool. You can also control personalised advertising in Google's Ad Centre, and read how Google uses data at policies.google.com. Full detail is on our cookies page.

Support links

If your browser blocks ads, we may show a link to our Ko-fi page instead. Following it takes you to ko-fi.com, which has its own privacy policy. We never know who clicked.

Installed tools

If you add a tool to your desktop or home screen, your browser stores the tool's icon and page on your device. This is a standard browser feature; it involves no extra data collection by us and can be removed by uninstalling the shortcut.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have rights over personal data an organisation holds about you, including access, correction and erasure. Hopi holds essentially none: there is no account to delete and your tool inputs never reach us. For anything relating to emails you have sent us, contact us and we will sort it quickly. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
