What this is for

Any rule phrased as "X days from..." ends in a real calendar date, and that date has a weekday. This calculator does the landing for you:

  • Returns and refunds: 30 days from purchase.
  • Notice periods: 4 weeks or 3 months from handing in notice.
  • Visas and travel: 90 or 180 days from entry.
  • Warranties, probation, cooling-off: 14 days, 6 months, 2 years from a start date.
  • Pregnancy and appointments: weeks from a known date.

Worked examples

28 days from 11 August 2026
Tuesday 8 September 2026
3 months before 25 December 2026
Friday 25 September 2026

How month-end dates are handled

Months are different lengths, so "one month later" is ambiguous at the month's end. This calculator clamps to the last real day: 31 January plus one month is 28 February (29 in a leap year), not 2 or 3 March. That matches how billing cycles, tenancy dates and subscriptions almost always behave. Adding days or weeks has no such ambiguity: those move an exact number of calendar days.

Frequently asked questions

What happens when I add a month to the 31st?

If the target month is shorter, the calculator lands on its last day: 31 January plus one month gives 28 February (29 in a leap year). This clamping matches how contracts and subscriptions usually behave, and avoids silently rolling into March.

How do I work out a deadline like 28 days from today?

Leave the start date as today, choose add, enter 28 and pick days. The result shows the exact date and its weekday, which matters when a deadline lands on a weekend.

Does adding a year handle leap days?

Yes. One year after 29 February 2024 lands on 28 February 2025, the last day of the shorter month, and leap days within any range are counted correctly.

Are weekends and bank holidays skipped?

No, this calculator moves through calendar days. If you need working days only (skipping weekends), count the equivalent weeks: 10 working days is 2 calendar weeks. A dedicated working days calculator is on its way.

Why does the weekday of the result matter?

Returns windows, notice periods and visa limits all expire on a specific calendar day. Knowing it is a Sunday tells you to act by the Friday before, which is exactly the sort of catch this tool is for.
